Vipers narrowly survived early exit from the Stanbic Uganda Cup after edging lower tier side Bujumbura United in Hoima on penalties following a goalless draw.

In the post-match penalty shootout, Burundian goalie Fabien Mutombora saved one while the hosts sent the other attempt over the bar as the Venoms put all theirs into the net.
Anukani, Mandela, Galiwango and Ivorian Ahmed Desire Tetty who made his debut all scored to ensure last season’s losing finalists didn’t exit.
The league champions join holders BUL as the two premier league sides to have reached the last 32 of the competition.
