Tooro United 2-1 Wakiso Giants
Bright Stars 3-0 Busoga United
Bright Stars were in ruthless form as they dispatched Jinja side Busoga United 3-0 at Kavumba on Wednesday.
The visitors coach, Abbey Kikomeko, admitted they struggled to match Bright Stars’ intensity following a downpour that started shortly before kickoff.
“We struggled a bit because of the rain and the boys didn’t follow instructions,” he said.
The win moved Bright Stars three places up to 11th and out of relegation.
Debutant Muwadda Mawejje was in fine form, setting up Ronald Ssempala for the opener after a neat give and go that allowed the striker to connect home.
Ssempala then crossed for Jamil Kaliisa, showed composure to round goalkeeper Rogers Omedwa for Stars second goal in the second half.
Joseph Janjali sealed it with his long range effort that bounced in front of the goalkeeper for the third goal.
“We installed a must win mentality but are also always looking for various ways of motivating the players,” said Stars coach Paul Kiwanuka.
This was Kiwanuka’s fourth win in six games since taking charge.
Elsewhere, Tooro United improved their survival chances with a 2-1 victory over Wakiso Giants in Fort Portal.
