Last Evening Ten StarTimes UPL players shore in the Uganda Cranes’ FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifier home victory over Botswana.
Ten of the players who feature in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League were part of the Uganda Cranes team that out-muscled Botswana 1-0 at the Mandela National Stadium, Namboole on Friday night.
This was during the Group G FIFA 2026 World Cup qualifiers where Uganda Cranes attained their second victory of the campaign.
Utility Man Kenneth Semakula (Sports Club Villa), Ronald Ssekiganda (Sports Club Villa) and Allan Okello (SC Vipers) started the game for Uganda Cranes under head coach Paul Put alongside his technical docket.
KCCA Football Club’s Shaban Muhammad, scorer of the lone strike of the day was one of the other players who played, alongside Denis Omedi of Kitara Football Club and another KCCA Football Club player Joel Sserunjogi.
Denis Omedi replaced Fahad Azizi Bayo in the 70th minute and provided the assist for Shaban who had minutes earlier come on for Steven Desse Mukwala. Joel Sserunjogi was a late replacement for Travis Mutyaba.
The local based unused substitutes players included Kitara FC goalkeeper Chrispas Kusiima, SC Villa’s Umar Lutalo as well as the BUL FC duo of Nicholas Mwere and Ronald Otti.
The presence and overall impact of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League further underscores the strength, organization and tactical prowess of the domestic league.
Uganda Cranes will again host Algeria at the Mandela National Stadium on Monday, 10th June 2024 (7 PM).
