The Premier League is Back!

Following a four months break, the StarTimes Uganda Premier League on Friday September 28 with seven matches on card across various venues.

At Kitende, defending champions Vipers SC start their title defence against new entrants Ndejje University in what will officially the first game of the 2018/19 season.

The game kicks off at 4pm, thirty minutes earlier than the rest of the matches on the day and will be live on Sanyuka TV thanks to the new Broadcast Partners, StarTimes.

Javier Martinez Espinoza, the Vipers tactician expects a good show against a side that will debut in the top division but has demanded for effectiveness.

“We must be effective especially in the final third,” he said. “I am confident the boys will show some good football on a better playing surface,” he added.

Daniel Sserunkuma, last season’s top scorer will be eager to get the goals for the hosts while Noel Nasasira will be the target goal getter for the visitors.

At StarTimes stadium, KCCA host rebranded Tooro United in a fixture Mike Mutebi believes his charges hold an upper hand but must exemplify so on the pitch.

Timothy Awany, Muzamiru Mutyaba and Nicholas Kasozi return to the side after missing the Fufa Super Cup but all eyes will be Allan Okello and Julius Poloto to unlock the visitors’ backline.

Wasswa Bbosa’s side will rely on Allan Kayiwa and Willy Kavuma as well as new signing Simon Sserunkuma for inspiration.

Elsewhere, SC Villa makes the trip to Jinja to face hosts Kirinya Jinja SS at their new home, Arena of Visions.

The whole new look SC Villa will hope skipper Ambrose Kirya, exciting left back Derrick Ndahiro and Bashir Mutanda, formerly at Kirinya are in fine form.

The hosts will rely on the goal scoring instincts of Fred Amaku to haunt the Jogoos.

In other games on Friday, Maroons take on Bright Stars in Mwererwe, URA host Paidha Black Angels at Namboole, Nyamityobora play their debut game in the division at Green Light stadium against Onduparaka while on Friday, Police welcome Bul at Lugogo.
