Tooro United secured only their second hard-earned victory in the 2021-2022 StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) campaign when they edged visiting Onduparaka 1-0 at the Buhinga Stadium in Fort Portal City on Tuesday.

Debutant midfielder Mohammed Senoga scored the all-important goal 10 minutes into the second half.

The former Sports Club Villa player converted from the spot kick past goalkeeper Michael Kagiri in the 55th minute after he was brought down in the box.

This was the first win under new coach Ibrahim Kirya, who replaced the sacked Edward Golola.

But the hosts had goalkeeper Kenneth Lukyamuzi, who was named the Pilsner Man of the Match – a recognition that comes with UGX 100,000 and a plaque, to thank as he repeatedly kept Onduparaka advances at bay.

Tooro United have only seven points from 16 games and remain bottom on the 16-team table.

Onduparaka’s sixth defeat in 16 matches keeps them 13th with 14 points, same as Busoga United, who were 1-0 winners over visiting Mbarara City on the same day.

Second half substitute Shaka Ssozi scored the game’s only goal when he powered a rocket past goalkeeper Martin Elungat in the 73rd minute.

The victory keeps Busoga United in the bottom three with 14 points while Mbarara City remain 12th with a point more.
