Transfer news featuring KCCA, Vipers, Bright Stars and URA

In a bid to reclaim the league title that they have not won in the past two seasons, KCCA continue to make squad changes.

The Kasasiro are arguably one of the busiest sides in the division and have on top of former signings added Benjamin Ochan.

Ochan returns to Lugogo for a third stint having played for the side in 2008, 20016 and now 2021.

He will vie for the number one spot with namesake Derrick Ochan who joined from Police and academy graduate Ali Mwirusi.

In the same vein, the exits at the club also soared with defender Samuel Kato, goalkeeper Hassan Matovu, versatile Moses Aliro and Juma Balinya have all been let go.

At Kawempe, Soltilo Bright Stars benefitted from Matovu’s departure from KCCA as they got him signed.

The club also got the signature of Kyetume FC goalkeeper Derrick Were and central midfielder Matthias Lothar Okwalinga.

In the technical wing, Baker Mbowa’s side added former Proline youth coach Richard Luyima.

Luyima who played for Proline, Kinyara and Victors FC among other clubs in the league will work as the Fitness and Performance coach at the club.

At Kitende, Vipers cut their losses and terminated the contract of striker Muhammad Shaban.

The former KCCA forward spent two years with the Venoms but failed to break into the first team thanks mainly to injuries.

He is rumored to be on his way to Onduparaka.

At URA, the club announced veteran coach Sam Timbe as their new head coach replacing Sam Ssimbwa.

Timbe was on the touchline for the last few minutes of his side’s 2-1 win over Ethiopian Coffee after sorting out issues with Caf.

Former Express and Vipers defender Edward Ssali was also unveiled as part of the staff to deal with fitness.

The 2021/22 Uganda Premier League season gets underway on October 15.
