Uganda vs Zanzibar
Cecafa record champions Uganda will face Zanzibar in the second semifinal on Friday after the islanders lost to Libya 1-0 to finish second behind Kenya in Group A.
The 1-1 draw with Ethiopia on Sunday had already secured Uganda a semifinal berth and by finishing second in their group, Zanzibar fell into Uganda’s way.
Kenya topped their pool on eight points while Uganda beat Burundi, who face the Harambee Stars in the first semifinal on Thursday, to the summit thanks to a superior goal difference.
Cranes coach Moses Basena will hope his Uganda Premier League (UPL) stars show up more than they did in the group stages since there are no second chances at this point in time.
Uganda are the record Cecafa winners having clinched the title 14 times, with Kenya a distant second at six.
The two semifinals of Africa’s oldest Cup competition will be played at Moi Stadium in Kisumu County.
