Uganda Cranes will face usual suspects Algeria among others in the qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup finals to be played in USA, Canada and Mexico.
Others in Group G of the draw held in Abidjan, Ivory Coast on Thursday July 13 are Mozambique, Botswana, Guinea and minnows Somalia.
Algeria are in the same qualifying group with Uganda in the 2023 Afcon qualifiers and have beaten the Cranes home and away already.
The qualification campaign for the World Cup will begin in November 2023 and run until October 2025, with the inter-confederation playoffs set to be played in November 2025.
Winners of each Group will automatically qualify for the FIFA World Cup 2026. The four best runners-up (from the Groups) will play in a CAF Play-Off tournament. The winner of the CAF Play-Off Tournament will play in the FIFA Play-off Tournament.
