The Cranes will face Kenya’s Harambee Stars on August 30 in an international friendly meant to prepare Uganda for their final 2017 Nations Cup qualifier against Comoros in September.

Fufa confirmed on their website on Friday that the friendly would take place at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole just a few days to the Comoros clash at the same venue.

Uganda and Comoros face off on the weekend of September 2-4 in a game that could end the Cranes 39-year absence from the Nations Cup finals.

Cranes coach Micho Sredojevic breathed a sigh of relief at the news.

“I am very happy that we have secured an international friendly match against a very good team.

“It will serve us a general check of players from a whole team shape before the match against Comoros’ said Sredojevic.

Kenya complete their qualifying attempt in Group E away to Zambia, but both the Harambee Stars and Chipolopolo have already been ejected.

Uganda Cranes and Burkina Faso are level on 10 points each in Group D. The Cranes just need victory to qualify.
