Uganda Vs Rwanda – St. Mary’s stadium, Kitende @ 4pm

Uganda and Rwanda renew hostilities as they face off at St. Mary’s stadium, Kitende on Saturday in the first leg of the final play-off of the CHAN 2018 qualifiers.

The fixture marks Uganda Cranes first since Serbian Mulitin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic resigned and all eyes will be on interim coaches, Moses Basena and Fred Kajoba.

Basena is fully aware of what awaits him and Kajoba at Kitende in Rwanda’s Amavubi and admits they will be motivated to put one behind the new staff.

“Truth be told, they must be motivated given we are almost new technical staff,” he told the press at Kitende. “But they will be surprised. They are not new opponents so we know what to expect and have prepared for the game in all aspects,” he added.

Antoine Hey, the Rwanda tactician expects a tough outing against arguably the best football nation in the region but remains optimistic.

“We expect a tough match against Uganda but they are not unbeatable. We are confident and we are going there with high hopes.

Prior to the game, either team has played a trial game with Uganda drawing 2-2 with Azam FC of Tanzania whilst Rwanda edged Sudan 2-1 in Kigali.
