SC Villa 2-3 KCCA

Jackson Nunda scored the winner as KCCA returned to the top of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) table following a come-from-behind 3-2 victory over struggling SC Villa.

Albert Mugisa and Bashir Mutanda scored for Villa while Julius Poloto and a Manco Kaweesa own goal counted for KCCA.

KCCA’s fourth win of the season moved them to 15 points, one ahead of Vipers, who face Express on Wednesday.

This was Villa’s fourth defeat in seven matches, which keeps them second from bottom with just three points.

It was an exciting end to end affair, with Villa’s naivety giving in to KCCA’s experience for the Lugogo boys to just edge it.

Mugisa was impressive in the middle of the park for Villa, and the midfielder duly gave the hosts the lead on 14 minutes when pulled the trigger from about 24 yards.

Lukwago in KCCA goal had no chance as the ball bounced off the wet surface and in it went for 1-0 to Villa. The home fans broke into wild celebrations.

Not for long, though as the visitors responded almost immediately. KCCA captain Timothy Awany raced down the left from his half in a powerful run, shoving Manco Kaweesa out of his way before crossing for Poloto to head in the equalizer on 18 minutes.

KCCA then took the lead for the first time on 32 minutes when Kaweesa turned into his own net Poloto’s cross from the right.

In between Mike Mutyaba missed a sitter after Allan Kyambadde had done all the work for him.

The Jogoos, however, forced the game to go into the half time break level at 2-2 after Mutanda swept home a loose ball in KCCA defence.

The stage was set for Nunda, who replaced Lawrence Bukenya, to steal the headlines. Hardly had the forward come on than he won it.

KCCA defender Filbert Obenchan took a long throw-in and Nunda timed his run to meet the ball with a powerful header for a 3-2 victory on 60 minutes.
