UPDF Nakyenalire in action against Fred Okot of URA

Coach Steven Bogere and his UPDF finally won a football match, ending the first round of the Azam Uganda Premier League (AUPL) with a 2-1 victory over Bright Stars in Bombo on Friday.

This was the army side’s only second win of the season and Bogere’s first since he replaced Moses Basena as coach over two months ago.

Fahad Bardino and Robert Nakyenalire scored for UPDF while Ashraf Kawadwa  got Bright Stars consolation.

UPDF, however, remain rooted at the basement of the 16-team with just 10 points.

William Kiibi also scored Maroons and the game’s only goal as they saw off Bul.

Viane Ssekajugo got Onduparaka’s in the 1-0 victory over URA at Namboole.

At Kavumba, Willy Kavuma and Abdul Nyanzi’s goals were enough as Soana beat Police, with Reuben Kimera getting the cops consolation.

Brian Ahebwa also ensured Mbarara City ended on a high, scoring the game’s only goal in the 1-0 victory over Masavu.
