UPDF 1-0 Mbarara City
Sulaiman Majanjalo was the hero as UPDF beat visiting Mbarara City 1-0 at Bombo Barracks to move out of the relegation zone for the first time.
Former Uganda Cranes midfielder Steven Bogere, now in charge of the army side, has ground out some crucial results recently to keep UPDF’s survival hopes alive.
His side began the game 14th on the log but this win lifts above Proline, who they also recently beat with the same scoreline, into 13th on 20 points.
Having taken over when survival chances were bleak towards the end of last year, Bogere seems to have turned the fortunes around.
UPDF are now one of the most in-form sides in the league having collected 10 out of a possible 12 points in four second round games.
Managed by Ibrahim Kirya, Mbarara City have struggled in the first four matches of the second round. They remain 11th on 21 points.
