The 2020/21 StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) season kicked off Thursday amidst the Coronavirus unique times with attention focused on ensuring everyone’s safety.
On the same day, local soccer body, Fufa, released guidelines that will direct stakeholders to navigate the Covid-19 times harmoniously.
The Uganda Premier League (UPL) reiterated the calls, releasing a press release on Friday that guides on how other stakeholders like security, the media etc will be accomodated on match days.
Among the guidelines to be strictly adhered to is that football will be played without spectators in the stadium and all players, coaches and essential staff must be tested for Coronavirus.
“These regulations have been developed for a common good to address the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic in a football environment,” said Gordon Roy Mundeyi, the UPL Head of Marketing & Communications.

“Let us embrace and abide by them,” added Mundeyi, who also doubles as the league Club Safety and Security Manager.
