Kitara 2-3 URA
URA held off a persistent Kitara 3-2 at Kavumba on Wednesday to stay in touch with the StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) pace setters.
Steven Mukwala, Brian Majwega and Shafiq Kagimu scored for the tax collectors while two penalty goals from Ronald Kyamanywa and Monday Denis ensured it was a lively affair.
The win has four-time league winners, URA, in fourth on 18 points, three behind leaders Vipers.
League new boys, Kitara, who are yet to win in nine games, remain second from bottom with just one point.
They started well, here, Kitara – taking a fourth minute lead through Kyamanywa from the penalty spot after a foul by URA defender Patrick Mbowa.
But the visitors responded immediately, Mukwala heading in the equaliser from a Moses Seruyide corner.
Coach Sam Ssimbwa’s URA then took th lead for the first time in the game through Majwega, who took full advantage of Kagimu’s pass.
Provider turned scorer, Kagimu this time making it 3-1 for URA from Ibrahim Dada’s pass on 37 minutes.
But there was still more time for one more penalty for Kitara after Ashraf Mandela handled in the unforbidden area late in the game.
Kyamanywa, scorer of the first penalty, had earlier come off injured, Forward stepped Monday to cut the deficit to a one goal margin defeat.
