URA edge Wakiso as Vipers are held at Maroons

Wednesday result

URA FC 2-1 Wakiso Giants FC

Maroons FC 2-2 Vipers SC

StarTimes Uganda Premier League defending champions, Vipers SC, joined fellow title contenders, KCCA, in dropping points on Wednesday.

Second-placed KCCA had shared spoils 1-1 away to Blacks Power (https://upl.co.ug/kcca-drop-points-again/) before Vipers settled for a 2-2 draw at Maroons.

Milton Karisa netted a brace for Vipers while Fred Amaku and Fredrick Kigozi got Maroons goals.

The result keeps Vipers fourth on 29 points, 11 behind leaders SC Villa. The latter have, however, played four games more than Vipers. Maroons are sixth on 27 points.

At the Lugazi Mehta Stadium, URA beat Wakiso Giants 2-1 with goals from Living Kabon and Saidi Kyeyune to continue their impressive second round run.

Shafik Kimbowa scored the consolation for the Purple Sharks from the penalty spot.

URA are fifth on 29 points while Wakiso Giants are eighth with 26 points.

But it is at Luzira Ground where drama was served as Vipers arrived late for the game against Maroons due to traffic jam. As such, they didn’t warm up.

But the Venoms went on with the job anyway, taking the lead through skipper Milton Karisa, who was returning from injury, on nine minutes.

However, Maroons hit back – capitalizing on a Vipers defensive mixup to allow forward Fred Amaku to level on 19 minutes.

Karisa restored Vipers lead with his second, a well taken volley on 70 minutes before Maroons forced an equaliser in injury time through Frederick Kigozi.
