URA 3-0 Maroons

Saidi Kyeyune put in a man of the match performance as URA went top of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) table with three points following a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Maroons.

The attacking midfielder scored one, and Maroons middle man Ronald Orombi netted an own goal before new signing Ivan Ntege added the icing on the cake late on.

Coach Sam Ssimbwa’s URA bossed the game, with Shafiq Kagimu and Kyeyune dictating proceedings in the middle at Namboole in this Friday tie.

And on 15 they got a breakthrough, Hassan Kalega, who later in the second half made way for another goalscorer Ntege, laying it on for Kyeyune.

The forward then unleashed an unstoppable drive past Maroons goalkeeper Emmanuel Akol for a 1-0 lead.

The hosts nearly doubled the lead but Kagimu went for glory than pass to a well positioned Kyeyune.

It wasn’t long, though. And after the half time break, the taxmen doubled their advantage when another new signing Ashraf Mandela’s cross was turned into his own net by Orombi on 52 minutes.

The hosts for their third two minutes from time when Ntege’s low drive hit the base of the post before finding its way to the back of the net.
