URA 2-0 SC Villa

Tooro vs Onduparaka (Match did not take place)

URA kicked off their StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) second round in emphatic style, seeing off SC Villa 2-0 at the Arena of Visions in Ndejje on Tuesday.

Daniel Isiagi and Michael Birungi were on target as coach Sam Ssimbwa’s men moved to within four points of their victims at 23. Both URA and Villa, however, stay sixth and fourth respectively on log standings.

URA showed their intent as early as the second minute when an attack ended with Isiagi nodding home Shafik Kagimu’s ball for a 1-0 lead.

Villa, who seemed shell shocked following late changes in playing personnel after a number of players failed to fulfil their licensing before kick-off, seemed to find their footing to go into the break only 1-0 down.

But URA, clearly with a better mind-set going by their application, made the task a little harder for the guests when Birungi made it 2-0 on 64 minutes.

The striker tapped home at the back post after neat work by Jackson Ojera from the right wing.

In Fort Portal, the match between hosts Tooro and Onduparaka failed to take off thanks to licensing issues. Tooro are said to have had only four licenced players while Onduparaka seven.
