Following a disappointing season in which the club finished fourth on the Azam Uganda Premier League log, URA are set to let go of nine players in the window.

In a communiqué on the club’s official portal, the executive has indicated six players will be sold since they still have running contracts while three will have their expired contracts not renewed.

The six up for sale include last season’s top scorer Robert Ssentongo, scorer of 18 goals, defender Savio Kabugo – who joined the club in January, Samuel Senkoomi – who has spent four years at the club, as well as Yayo Lutimba.

Others are striker Frank Kalanda and midfielder Derrick Tekkwo.

The latter joined at the start of last season from relegated Kira Young while the former had joined from Express after the 2012-13 season.

The players whose contract won’t be renewed are goalkeepers Brian Bwete and Sulait Luyima, plus attacking midfielder Saidi Kyeyune.

There was, however, good news for Moses Ali Feni, Jimmy Kulaba and Oscar Agaba, whose contracts – which expired at the end of last season – are set for renewals.

In another development, long serving skipper Simeon Masaba has been elevated from the playing staff to the technical team.

With such a massive exodus, expect a busy transfer window for the Tax Collectors in terms of new faces at Lugazi.
