URA 2-2 Kitara

URA and Kitara exchanged leads at Metha Stadium in Lugazi on Friday but both had to settle for a point in the end as they played out a 2-2 draw.

This was also David Obua’s first StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) match in charge of URA since he took over the reins as head coach last week.

Najib Fesali and Ivan Ahimbisibwe scored URA goals while the Tax Collectors’ old boy, Kabob Living, and former KCCA striker Brian Aheebwa netted for Kitara.

Victory would have brought Kitara level on 18 points with leaders BUL but a point still keeps them in second place, two marks off the top. URA move to 10 points but stay seventh on the log.

The visitors, Kitara, took the lead on the half hour when Kabon volleyed home from outside the 18 yard area after a URA defender’s failed clearance fell into his path.

But Fesali levelled matters for URA two minutes to half time when he headed in from a corner to elicit smiles and hugs between Obua and his technical bench.

URA returned from the half time break with resolve, and they took the lead for the first time in the match inside the first two minutes.

An attack down the right saw scorer Fesali turn provider when his pinpoint cross was headed in by Ahimbisibwe for URA’s 2-1 lead on 47 minutes.

Kitara could have equalised six minutes from full time but Maxwell Owachgiu’s lob crashed off the crossbar.

The equaliser, however, finally came in the dying minutes of added time when Aheebwa struck home from inside the area after a scrappy manoeuvre.
