URA 1-0 Ndejje
URA went joint top of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) table on Friday following a narrow 1-0 victory over newcomers Ndejje University.
Peter Lwasa scored the only goal of the match at Namboole for the taxmen to move to seven points, same as KCCA.
URA are second due to an inferior goal difference. Defeat for Ndejje has them 11th with three points.
Lwasa’s goal was a well taken header off a Moses Sseruyide freekick in the second half. Coach Sam Ssimbwa’s side could have doubled the advantage on several occasions but for Mathew Odong’s wastefulness.
With a proven goal scorer in goalkeeper James Alitho keeping guard between the posts, Ssimbwa was left wondering what could have been if the towering stopper was upfront.
“Alitho would have started upfront if my other two goalkeepers had not got injured prior to the game,” lamented Ssimbwa.
Alitho has largely been used a goalkeeper from his days with Vipers. He even emerged top scorer with eight goals at the recent Fufa Drum tournament.
