Friday collated results

Mbarara 1-1 URA

Police 0-0 Bright Stars

UPDF 0-0 Maroons

The Azam Uganda Premier League (AUPL) returned from the international break on Friday with six matches on card.

But only half of those returned victories, with two games failing to produce goals. KCCA, Onduparaka and Soana were the day’s biggest winners, while Masavu edged further to relegation than survival. They fell 3-0 to Onduparaka to stay bottom of the log.

But URA, early season pace setters Police, and Maroons could only play out stalemates against Mbarara City, Bright Stars and UPDF at a time all teams are desperate for points.

URA are that giant that has blown a little hot and cold in the last few seasons. They took the lead against Mbarara at Kakyeka Stadium when Charles Sempa broke the deadlock on 16 minutes.

But the hosts hit back from the penalty spot on 65 minutes when Emmanuel Ibe Obina stepped forward to convert.

The 1-1 draw was URA’s sixth draw in 22 matches, seven of them victories, leaving coach Paul Nkata’s men ninth on 27 points, a massive 16 behind leaders SC Villa.
