SC Villa took advantage of KCCA slip up by opening up a four-point gap at the top of the Azam Uganda Premier League (AUPL) table with a slim win over 10-man Bul at Masaka Recreation Ground.
Emmanuel Okwi scored the only goal of the game; a penalty in the 66th minute after Paul Kisige handled the ball in the area for his 8th goal in as many this season and hid fourth in two games at the ground.
The visitors played the last four minutes with one player less after Patrick Ssembuya was sent off for a bad foul on Okwi.
Neither did Okwi return to the pitch with fears he had broken his arm but he later revealed there was nothing serious in a tweet after leaving hospital.
Now on 47 points after 23 games, the Jogoos are four points better than KCCA who still hold a three game advantage while Bul are 12th with 23 points from as many matches.
At Lugazi, URA’s rise up on the log continued as they are now 3rd after beating The Saints 2-0 for a record fourth successive league victory.
Shafik Kagimu and Fred Okot scored in the 42nd and 77th minutes respectively to earn the hosts maximum points and take their tally to 36 from 22 matches.
The Saints, under Moses Basena, a former coach at URA are just a point and slot above the relegation zone in 13th with 23 points from as many games.
Elsewhere, Proline beat visiting Sadolin Paints 2-0 at Phillip Omondi stadium, Lugogo to go 8th with 30 points.
Nelson Ssenkatuka and Simon Mbaziira scored the Mujib Kasule’s side in a one sided tie that saw The Painters remain 11th on the log with 24 points.
At Kakindu, Isa Magumba cancelled out Gadafi Gadinho goal as JMC Hippos shared spoils with Onduparaka.
Gaddafi put the Caterpillars in the lead five minutes to the half time break but Magumba replied with just 12 minutes to the final whistle.
The Hippos stay bottom with a meager 10 points while Onduparaka are 5th with 34 points.
