Tuesday’s drawn matches

Bright Stars 0-0 Police

Maroons 1-1 UPDF

URA 1-1 Mbarara City

For a team whose last outing was a priceless away victory to Vipers, URA’s 1-1 draw at home to Mbarara City was quite an anti climax.

And to think that they were on their way to losing all three points, until Denis Kamanzi struck 13 minutes from time to save the tax collectors the blushes.

Wol Makueth had given the visitors, Mbarara, the lead on the stroke of half-time time and seemed en route to their fourth victory of the season but for Kamanzi’s intervention.

The result moves coach Ibrahim Kirya’s URA one place up to fifth on 20 points, eight behind leaders SC Villa.

Mbarara move one up to 12th on just 16 points from 14 matches.

This match at Namboole was one of three Azam Uganda Premier League (AUPL) games that ended in stalemates on Tuesday.

The others saw coach Abdallah Mubiru’s Police squander a chance to close in on Villa as they drew goalless away at Bright Stars.

They move to 24 points and second in the standings. Bright Stars remain seventh on 19 points.

Like URA, Maroons also had to come from behind to salvage a point at home to UPDF.

Solomon Walusimbi scored on 78 minutes to cancel out Robert Nakyelanire’s 32nd minute penalty.

Maroons are eighth on 18 points while UPDF remain rooted at the basement with just seven.
