Saturday result
URA 0-0 SC Villa
URA would have done with victory, given the dire situation they are in. Yet, a point at home against SC Villa might have as well bought URA coach Ibrahim Kirya some more breathing space.
The two could only play out a goalless draw at Namboole on Saturday as Kirya looked to dig himself and his team out of a hole and Villa’s Wasswa Bbosa to build onto the 2-1 defeat of KCCA, coming into this.
But they both could only settle for a point apiece in an Azam Uganda Premier League (AUPL) game that counted more for physicality than art.
URA did see the back of the net, but Ajab Abdulrahman’s first half header was canceled by referee Dennis Batte for alleged infringement on goalkeeper Samson Kirya.
Villa’s Ibrahim Kiyemba, Godfrey Lwesibawa, Allan Kyambadde and Martin Kizza also got close but there was not letting go at the home side’s defence.
The draw is the third for the respective teams, leaving URA 10th on nine points and SC Villa fifth on 13.
