KCCA 1-2 URA
URA went top of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) table following their come-from-behind 2-1 win over early pace setters KCCA on Friday.
Benjamin Nyakoojo and Shafik Kagimu were the match determinants, their goals reversing Brian Aheebwa’s opener.
URA have 11 points from five games, one more than Police, who face UPDF on Saturday, and two ahead of KCCA.
KCCA came into this home fixture at MTN Omondi Stadium Lugogo on the back of a 2-1 loss to Villa.
Their manager Mike Mutebi demanded the players react to that defeat as they prepare to fly out to Rwanda to face AS Kigali for Caf Confederation Cup duty.
They did respond, albeit briefly, Aheebwa giving them a 26-minute lead.
But coach Sam Ssimbwa’s URA midfield marshalled by Kagimu was quickly getting grip of the game, and it soon told.
Nyakoojo brought them level on 32 minutes before Kagimu scored the emphatic winner nine minutes from half time.
This is KCCA’s second successive defeat after starting like a house on fire with three straight victories.
It’s also URA’s third successive win after victories over SC Villa, Bul and now KCCA.
