URA 3-1 Onduparaka
MYDA 2-2 Kyetume
URA opened up a four-point lead at the top of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) table following a comprehensive 3-1 victory over visiting Onduparaka in Ndejje on Friday.
Skipper Shafik Kuchi Kagimu scored a brace and Steven Mukwala added the other for the taxmen.
Mahad Ajobe scored Onduparaka’s consolation.
Kagimu struck the first blood early, taking full advantage of Mukwala’s industry for 1-0.
Goal provider then scorer when Mukwala volleyed home past goalkeeper Tonny Kyamera on 40 minutes for a 2-0 half time lead.
Onduparaka returned for the second half with a little more resolve and were on the good when Ajobe pulled one back.
But Kagimu restored URA’s two goal cushion with a stunning pile driver on the hour as the tax collectors continued their fine season.
This is URA’s 15th victory of the season, taking them to 50 points, four more than Vipers, who face KCCA on Sunday.
Onduparaka were losing their 12th game of the season and remain closest to the drop zone with 24 points.
Elsewhere, Myda and Kyetume were only good for a 2-2 draw in Tororo.
The hosts came from two goals down to salvage a point.
Ezra Kizito and Yusuf Saka gave the visitors a quick 2-0 lead but Myda rallied late through Amos Etojo and Derrick Basoga to rescue a point.
The game also saw Kyetume goalkeeper Emmanuel Derrick Were save two penalties from Myda captain Isaac Osikol and Peter Mutebi.
There was late drama as Kyetume was awarded a penalty too in the 98th minute but Saka missed from 12 yards as the two points shared the spoils.
