Pressure eased on under-fire URA coach Kefa Kisala as the tax collectors emerged 2-0 victors over the Saints in Bombo on Tuesday.
Bokota Labama Kamana and Peter Lwasa were the heroes in the second half as URA’s only third win in 10 Azam Uganda Premier League (UPL) matches moved them two places up to fifth on 15 points.
The tax collectors trail joint leaders KCCA and Vipers, who beat Kirinya-Jinja SS 1-0 thanks to Tony Odur’s first half goal at Nakivubo, by four points.
The less convincing start to the campaign had seen pressure increase on Kisala but on a day he came up against the man he replaced and once deputized, Moses Basena, he could not have asked for a better lift.
Defeat for Basena’s Saints, their fifth of the season, has them 10th with 11 points from 10 matches.
In Arua, Onduparaka had Gadinho Gadaffi to thank for a point as he cancelled out JMC Hippos Mustafa Mugoya’s 28th minute opener for the two sides to settle for a 1-1 stalemate.
Onduparaka’s fourth draw of the campaign has them in eighth with 13 points while JMC remain rooted at the bottom with three.
Elsewhere, Proline drew their eighth match in 10 as they came from behind to hold Sadolin Paints 1-1 at Bugembe Stadium in Jinja.
Proline move two places up to ninth with 11 points while Sadolin are three down with 10.
