Following a two weeks’ break, the Azam Uganda Premier League returns with two fixtures on Friday before the rest of the teams play on Saturday.

The biggest of the day’s game is at Champions stadium, Mwererwe where Bright Stars host former champions URA while at the Kyabazinga stadium, Bugembe, Kirinya Jinja SS host Lweza.

BRIGHT STARS VS URA @ 4pm Live on Azam TV

The hosts come into the game on the back a thrilling 5-3 loss to SC Villa which took their tally to four successive matches without picking maximum points.

Seventh on the log with 15 points, Fred Kajoba’s side seems to be struggling despite a bright start to the campaign and this has already worried the tactician shifting the blame to the intermittent breaks.

“It has always been very difficult for us to prepare when the league breaks,” he told upl.co.ug. “Unlike other clubs that keep training, ours is different given the limited resources but we can’t use that as an excuse,” he added.

Kajoba’s side will miss the services of on form Ronald Jjungo and Kokas Opejo through injury as they join long term absentee Ivan Sserunkuma.

The talented Baker Lukooya is also doubtful as he only returned to training two days to the fixture.

For the visitors, Kefa Kisala’s men start life minus Oscar Agaba and Fahad Kawooya who were suspended by the club for alleged match fixing but the ex-Express winger isn’t bothered by their absence.

“We shall use the available players,” he said. Kisala however revealed that Robert Mukongotya, Mathias Muwanga, Jimmy Lule and Harry Gentle King are all out.

URA are unbeaten in their previous five games despite winning just three and are two points above Bright Stars in 6th position.

The previous six meetings between the two sides have witnessed four stalemates with URA winning the others.

Surprisingly, the stalemates have come in succession.

KIRINYA JINJA SS VS LWEZA – Bugembe

Kirinya Jinja SS will be seeking their first topflight win when they host Lweza at the Kyabazinga stadium, Bugembe.

The newly promoted side has lost just four of the 12 league ties but are winless although they remain unbeaten at home with six successive draws.

With just eight points, Alex Isabirye’s charges are second from bottom and have scored just three goals.

Surprisingly, they have the meanest defence with just seven goals conceded.

Meanwhile, Lweza on the other hand are 11th on the table with 13 points and have won just two games, drawing seven and losing three.

This will be the first meeting between the two sides in the league.
