URA 2-1 Onduparaka
URA stayed in contention of this season’s Startimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) title conversation after overcoming Onduparaka 2-1 at the Arena of Visions Stadium on Tuesday.
The hard-earned victory moved them to 38 points, five behind leaders Vipers.
Substitute Juma Dada scored an 83rd minute winner after Mansoor Safi had cancelled Steven Mukwala’s first half opener for URA.
Mukwala gave URA the lead on 35 minutes when he latched onto a Vianney Sekajugo header to easily slot home.
This was the striker’s 12th of the campaign, making him the joint leading scorer alongside Vipers’ Caesar Manzoki.
But Mansoor Safi levelled three minutes into the second half when his powerful free-kick flew in past URA goalkeeper Nafian Alionzi.
Onduparaka remain 12th, just above the three teams in the relegation spots, with 18 points after 20 games.
In Jinja, another substitute Charles Musiige scored late to save Express the blushes as the Red Eagles fought back to claw a point from Gaddafi.
Paul Musamali’s brilliant free-kick given the hosts the lead.
But ‘Soldier Boys’ missed a glorious chance to double their advantage seven minutes before the break when Umar Kyeyune saw his penalty kick hit the woodwork after Murushid Jjuuko had brought down Richard Basangwa.
Express remain sixth on 31 points, five above Gaddafi.
