SC Villa 2-1 Mbarara city
UPDF 1-0 Tooro United
Arua Hill 2-0 Busoga United
Sixteen-time Ugandan record champions champions, SC Villa, eased their relegation fears when they overpowered fellow drop candidates, Mbarara City, 2-1 on Tuesday.
A Ronald Otti own goal and another strike from Saddam Masereka won it for Villa while Solomon Okwalinga scored Mbarara’s consolation from the penalty spot.
Victory moved Villa three places up the StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) to 10th on 28 points after 26 matches.
Mbarara remained second from bottom on 22 points.
Villa, whose last league title came in 2004, went ahead on 47 minutes through an Otti own goal and looked to kill off the game a minute later when Isaac Ogwang teed on Masereka for the second.
Mbarara had hope of completing a possible comeback when Okwalinga converted a penalty 10 minutes from full time but the Jogoos held on for all three points.
Elsewhere, Arua Hill continued their impressive debut season with a 2-0 victory over Busoga United to go fifth on 43 points. Striker Alfred Leku scored both goals.
In Bombo, hosts UPDF beat ill-fated Tooro United by a solitary goal, Ivan Ahimbisibwe with that winner.
