Wakiso Giants 1-2 SC Villa

Busoga United 1-0 Tooro United

SC Villa and Busoga United both won their Startimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) matches on Wednesday to lessen their relegation fears.

The Jogoos of Villa picked up a 2-1 win over Wakiso Giants at the Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium while Busoga were 1-0 victors over Tooro United.

Elsewhere, URA wasted an opportunity to further close in on leaders Vipers as they were held to a goalless draw with Arua Hill at the Arena of Visions.

Back in Wakiso, record 16-time league champions, Villa, moved to 25 points and five ahead of Bright Stars – occupiers of the third and final relegation spot.

The Stars have, however, played a game fewer than Villa. Wakiso Giants themselves remain seventh on the log with 33 points from 23 games.

Gift Fred put Villa ahead on eight minutes with a header off a Nicholas Kabonge corner.

Moses Aliro equalised for Wakiso 15 minutes to the half time break.

But Benson Muhindo ensured of a Villa victory when he converted a penalty after the hour mark following a foul on Isaac Ogwang in the penalty box.

In Jinja, Busoga United dug deep for their 1-0 victory over Tooro to boost their survival  chances. Anwar Ntege scored the winner  on 56 minutes.

Victory moved Busoga up to 12th on 25 points, five above the drop zone. Tooro remained at the bottom on just 10 points after 23 matches.
