SC Villa 2-1 Onduparaka

Maroons 0-0 Soltilo Bright Stars

Charles Bbaale scored the winner 10 minutes from full time as SC Villa edged 10-man Onduparaka 2-1 at Akii Bua Stadium in Lira on Friday.

Rashid Okocha had seven minutes earlier cancelled out Hassan Musana’s first half opener for Villa before Bbaale, netting his fifth of the season, made sure of all three StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) points.

Onduparaka’s misfortunes were further compounded three minutes from full time when defender Aziz Mandela Malish was shown marching orders after a second bookable offence.

The victory, Villa’s ninth in 16 matches, has the Jogoos in fourth place on 28 points on the national championship table.

Villa have drawn three of the 16 games, meaning that should have them on 30 points.

But the record 16-time champions were deducted two points for fan violence in the first round and ordered to play five home matches far away from Kampala in Lira.

Onduparaka also suffered and served similar punishment, which was carried forward from last season.

The Caterpillars’ ninth defeat in 16 matches keeps them bottom of the 16-team league on just seven points.

Elsewhere, Maroons and Soltilo Bright Stars could only play out a goalless draw in Luzira.

Maroons are ninth on 19 points while Bright Stars are a place and two points above them.
