SC Villa 1-0 BUL
David Owori scored the only goal of the match as SC Villa beat BUL 1-0 on Tuesday to continue their steady charge at a first league title in 19 years.
The victory at Akii Bua Stadium in Lira was Villa’s 11th in 18 StarTimes Uganda Premier League matches. Only table leaders KCCA have won as many matches.
KCCA, who have played two matches fewer than Villa, lead the table standings on 35 points, just one ahead of the Jogoos.
At Akii Bua Stadium, Owori got Villa’s winner on 40 minutes after being teed-on by Patrick Jonah Kakande.
The win was especially sweet for Villa as they avenged their elimination from the Stanbic Uganda Cup at the hands of BUL.
BUL would also have gone second on the 15-team table had they beaten Villa.
As a result, BUL – who were playing their first league match without coach Alex Isabirye, who joined Vipers SC – stayed third on the table with 29 points.
This was also coach Simeon Masaba’s first match in charge of BUL in the league after he replaced Isabirye on an interim basis.
