UPL Result
Lweza 0-0 SC Villa
Record league champions SC Villa were left ruing a missed opportunity to go top of the Azam Uganda Premier League (UPL) as they fired blanks on Saturday.
The 16-time champions were held goalless by a formidable Lweza side at Wankulukuku on a day they would have assumed table leadership until September 20 when the league returns.
Villa came into this knowing that victory would see them leapfrog defending champions KCCA to the summit.
The point from Wankulukuku now only sees Villa go to eight points, one behind leaders KCCA, but Vipers’ victory over Bul on the same day has the Villa Park outfit dropping one place to third.
On the other hand, it was a point earned for Lweza, who moved one place up to 11th with four points.
Villa have now won just two times in four matches while Lweza have managed maximum points just once.
Villa’s next match is at home to Proline at Nakivubo in 10 days’ time. Lweza travel to URA the same day.
