SC Villa 1-0 Police

Saddam Masereka was SC Villa’s hero as his goal saw the Jogoos kick off their 2021/22 StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) season on a high.

The 16-time record league champions battled to a 1-0 victory over struggling Police at Kavumba on Friday.

This was Villa’s first game of the season, which actually entered matchday four on the day.

The Jogoos had been excluded from the fixture list until mid this week because of not fulfilling some of the club licensing requirements.

But after that frustrating long wait, they dusted their boots and got it going.

For majority of the game there was little to separate the two sides in Kavumba as Villa coach Petros Koukouras and Police’s Abdallah Mubiru rallied their teams on from the dugout.

And it had to be a late goal from Masereka seven minutes from full time to decide the tight affair.

Villa are now 11th on a 16-team league table with maximum points from one game.

On their part, Police are bottom of the log with no points having lost all their four matches, scoring just once and conceding six times.
