Bright Stars FC 1-2 SC Villa

SC Villa wrapped up their StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) first round with victory after downing Soltilo Bright Stars 2-1 at Kavumba Ground on Wednesday.

A Benson Wangima own goal and Nicholas Kabonge winner earned coach Edward Kaziba’s men their seventh victory in 15 games.

Bright Stars registered their sixth defeat despite Joseph Akwandanaho’s goal.

Villa end the first round in seventh place on 25 points, while Bright Stars in 10th on 17.

The visitors took the lead in the sixth minute when Fred Agandu’s cross rattled the post and went in off the back of Bright Stars goalkeeper Wangima.

But the hosts immediately equalised when Akwandwanaho pounced on Villa goalkeeper Meddie Kibirige’s poor handling to slot into an empty net.

However, like he did last Sunday against Onduparaka, Kabonge intervened, pouncing on a loose ball in the area to kill them off on 66 minutes.
