Villa win two on the trot

SC Villa 2-1 Paidha Black Angels

SC Villa finally won two games in a row this season when the Jogoos edged a battling Paidha Black Angels 2-1 at Namboole on Tuesday.

Pius Wangi grabbed a brace to ensure coach Douglas Bamweyana’s boys followed their morale boosting 3-1 victory over Vipers SC last week was with another three points.

Victory moved Villa one place up to 11th on 21 points, while Paidha remained bottom of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League  (SUPL) 16-team table with nine.

Wangi, who tormented Vipers with an assist and goal last week, put Villa ahead in the third minute when he thumped into the roof after Paidha defence failed to clear their lines.

Paidha could have levelled matters but James Wambede’s header crashed off the crossbar.

Villa were to later punish the visitors miss, Wangi connecting home a 17th minute Charles Lwanga cross from the right following a glorious Emmanuel Kalyowa through ball.

Paidha also had their captain Jerry Adebu waste a glorious opportunity on the stroke of half time.

They returned from the break renewed amd got their reward on 53 minutes when Okwir Dickens goal from inside the area had Villa on the edge till the end. The Blues held on.
