Vipers begin their second-round campaign on Thursday when they host Gaddafi aiming to trim gap on leaders.
The reigning champions missed out on match day 16 as their supposed opponents Arua Hill were eliminated from the premier league and sit seven points behind leaders BUL.
However, BUL have played two more games but the Venoms know the games in hand will count for nothing if they don’t get maximum points.
In the past five league meetings, Vipers have won 4 and lost one and are clear favourites coming into the game against a side 13th on the table with 16 points and just one victory in the last five outings.
The 7pm fixture will be preceded by a clash between Maroons and Wakiso Giants at Luzira.
Both teams lost their previous games with the hosts losing 2-1 away to Villa while the visitors were beaten by a solitary Nelson Ssenkatuka strike at Bright Stars.
Wakiso Giants need points to steer clear of relegation monster but Maroons want to climb higher on the table as they currently occupy with 28 points.
