- Platinum Stars (RSA) Vs Vipers (Uganda) – Royal Bafokeng @ 7pm (Local Time) 8pm EAT)
- [Vipers lead 1-0 from the first leg]
Former Azam Uganda Premier League (AUPL) winners, Vipers want to build on a slim but important lead when they visit Platinum Stars of South Africa.
The two sides face on Saturday in the second leg of the first round of the CAF Confederation Cup with Vipers, Uganda’s representatives seeking to avoid defeat and qualify for the next stage.
Milton Karisa’s solitary strike in the first leg at St. Mary’s Kitende made the difference and hopefully will be a very important goal for Portuguese Miguel Jorge Duarte and his venoms.
Though in a lead, Duarte has revealed he won’t go there to sit and defend but attack and win the game.
We need to attack and win the game and progress to the next round. Sitting back will invite pressure.
After leaving out Tonny Odur from his 18-man squad, the Portuguese may likely stick with the same eleven that won 1-0 in Kitende although Aggrey Madoi maybe preferred at left back in the place of Dan Birikwalira.
Brian Nkuubi may also give way to a more combative Siraje Sentamu to allow freedom to Moses Waiswa, man of the match in the reverse fixture as well as Mike Sserumaga.
Vipers have never won away in the continental competition but drew one-all with Comoros’ Volcan de Moroni to reach this stage.
In case they get past this stage, Vipers will be two games away from reaching the group stages of the second most competition in African club football.
