Vipers SC 3-1 Masavu
Vipers survived a scare from relegation bound Masavu as they scored two late goals to win 3-1 and assume the Azam Uganda Premier League (AUPL) summit.
Tom Masiko, Pius Wangi and Milton Karisa scored for the hosts while Ivan Lubale netted for the visitors.
Vipers are now joint top with SC Villa on 49 points, but the Kitende-based side lead the standings thanks to a superior goal difference.
Lubale scored for the visitors in the 70th minute to cancel out Masiko’s earlier strike in the 32nd minute.
As pressure reached the boiling point, Edward Golola, in charge because Miguel Da Costa is serving a ban, introduced Wangi, Milton Karisa and Clovis Mbayi.
The subs made a telling impact as Wangi restored Vipers lead on 89 minutes.
Karisa then put it beyond doubt with the third in added time as Vipers perfectly warmed up for Friday’s titanic clash with KCCA.
