Vipers bounce back to dismiss Onduparaka

Tuesday result

Vipers SC 3-0 Onduparaka

Vipers SC put up a determined performance ahead of their continental duty this weekend, dispatching Onduparaka 3-0 at St Mary’s Kitende to ensure KCCA do not get out of their reach.

Geoffrey Wasswa, Daniel Sserunkuma and Livingstone Mulondo scored for the Venoms as they ended a two-match winless period in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL).

The result on Tuesday ensured KCCA – who edged URA 1-0 – stayed in sight. It moved the Venoms to 29 points, seven behind the leaders. Vipers have, however, played two matches fewer than KCCA.

The game played at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende also marked coach Edward Golola’s third stint at Vipers and his impact on the game could be felt as Vipers played arguably their most coherent football this season.

Wasswa, one of Vipers standout players this season, opened the scoring with a lob over goalkeeper Nicholas Ssebwato on 48 minutes before Sserunkuma beautifully curled in the second four minutes later.

Mulondo headed in the third from a corner against an Onduparaka side that now drop to fourth on 24 points.
