Vipers bounce back

Tuesday result

Vipers SC 2-0 Gaddafi

StarTimes Uganda Premier League defending champions, Vipers SC, returned to winning ways when they saw off Gaddafi 2-0 at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Tuesday.

Abubaker Lawal and Abdu Lumala scored the champions goals for them to stay in touch with leaders SC Villa and KCCA.

The win keeps Vipers third on the log as the Venoms move to 42 points, three behind KCCA and four adrift of Villa.

Coach Alex Isabirye’s Vipers have, however, played a match and two fewer than KCCA and Villa respectively.

Defeat, Gaddafi’s ninth of the season, keeps them 10th on 29 points from 24 matches.

Vipers came into this match on the back of a 1-0 defeat to Villa and could not afford another slip-up.

Their fears were allayed on 23 minutes when Lawal fired into the roof after a neat low pass from skipper Milton Karisa.

Lumala then opened his Vipers account in the league  on 77 minutes when he bundled the ball in from close range after Cromwell Rwothomio’s good work.
