Vipers SC edged 10-man Soltilo Bright Stars 1-0 in Kavumba to close the gap on StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) leaders, KCCA, to just one point.

KCCA, who welcome Express to the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo on Wednesday, have 27 points and have played the same number of games as Vipers.

In Kavumba, striker Yunus Sentamu gave the visitors the lead on seven minutes when he latched onto a speculative shot from youngster Bobosi Byaruhanga to place home.

Vipers should have doubled the advantage after Sentamu drew a foul from Bright Stars defender Allan Katwe but Caesar Manzoki failed to convert from the penalty spot.

Earlier in the first half, Bright Stars youngster Ivan Irinimbabazi Had been shown a red card for dangerous play but Vipers largely failed to take full advantage of their numerical edge.

In the end it was a nervy finish but the Venoms held on for all three points.

In the Jinja, hosts Gaddafi and Onduparaka produced a dramatic four-goal thriller of hits and misses.

Three penalties were awarded, two retaken and four goals scored as Onduparaka forced a draw at the Gaddafi Arena.

Shaban Muhammad and Nathan Aloro scored for Onduparaka while Karenzi Buchochera and Hassan Musana netted for the hosts.

Gaddafi are 10th on the log with 14 points, two better than 11th placed Onduparaka.

In Fort Portal, Police got their second win of the season with a 3-1 victory over Tooro United.

Brian Muluuli, Juma Balinya and Tony Mawejje netted for the Cops while Mark Nsubuga got Tooro’s consolation.
