- Vipers 2-0 Police
Vipers continued their marc towards their third league title with a 2-0 home win over Police on Friday.
Milton Karisa and Daniel Sserunkuma scored for the hosts in a game they dominated in the first half before they were made to work for points in the second.
Karisa’s goal came on the eighth minute mark after he received a brilliant pass from Moses Waiswa, beat Ibrahim Kibumba and slid the ball at the near post past hapless Douglas Kisembo.
In the 34th minute, the lead was doubled after a blunder from Police captain Martin Mpuga whose low back pass was intercepted by Karisa and the former Bul forward squared for Sserunkuma to finish in an empty net.
Before that, Karisa had missed a great chance to score his and Vipers’ second while Norman Ojik failed to convert when played through on goal by Rahmat Senfuka.
In the second half, Police were the better side after the introduction of Sadat Kyambadde, Juma Balinya and later young Derrick Kakooza but the log leaders held on to open a five point gap at the top.
Vipers now have 58 points, five better than second placed SC Villa who face Simba at Bombo.
