Vipers SC 1-0 KCCA

Mbarara City 1-1 Bul

StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) champions, Vipers SC, remain in control of defending their title after edging KCCA 1-0 in a big game clash at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Tuesday.

And it had to be decided by unlikely sources, an own goal from KCCA defender Peter Magambo the unfortunate determinant.

The win, Vipers 10th in 15 games, sees the Venoms end the first round second on 33 points, three fewer than flying URA.

KCCA, who have blown hot and cold, finish the round fourth on 27 points, having won eight and lost four in 15 games.

For majority of the game at Kitende, there was little to separate the two giants.

But a promising evening for Magambo and KCCA turned worse when the defender unintentionally directed Disan Galiwango’s cross into his own net on 39 minutes.

Elsewhere, Swalik Seguja and Simon Oketch scored for Mbarara City and Bul respectively as the two sides settled for a draw at Kakyeka.
