Vipers SC 1-0 Wakiso Giants
Vipers SC beat Wakiso Giants 1-0 on Tuesday at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende to stretch their lead at the StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) summit by six points over second placed Bul.
Fahad Bayo scored the game’s only goal, his eighth of the campaign, for the Venoms to move to 30 mpoints after 12 games.
The strike could, however, have easily gone away with the match-ball from a hat-trick but for his several missed clear-cut opportunities.
“As coaches we have to go back the drawing board to fix that,” said Vipers coach Edward Golola, “Today he got five chances and converted only one.”
Golola’s former player, Steven Bengo, who was making his debut in the dugout, believes his side could have earned at least a point from the game.
“We all know it is difficult when you come to Kitende,” said Bengo, “We could have had a penalty but it is handball in the centre of the pitch and not when in the box,” he said.
Wakiso’s seventh defeat in 12 matches keeps them 11th with 13 points.
