CAF Champions League

Second leg result

TP Mazembe 0-0 Vipers SC

Vipers win 4-2 on penalties to advance

Ugandan champions Vipers SC are through to the CAF Champions League group stage for the first time in the club’s history after eliminating DRC giants, TP Mazembe in Lubumbashi on Saturday.

The two sides played out a goalless draw at Stade TP Mazembe, same result as last week in Kampala, leaving the tie to be decided on penalties.

Vipers prevailed, winning the shootout 4-2 to storm the group stage.

KCCA are the last Ugandan club to reach these heights some four years ago.

Bright Anukani, Dissan Galiwango, Ashraf Mandela and Congolese import Olivier Osomba scored Vipers penalties.

Ernest Luzolo and Issama Mpeko converted Mazembe’s spot kicks while Tandi Mwape and Glody Likonza missed for the five-time African champions.
