League champions Vipers have no room error when they face TP Mazembe at Kitende in the first leg of the pre-group qualifiers in the TotalEnergies Caf Champions League.

The Ugandan flag carriers, seeking to reach the lucrative stage for the first time eliminated hapless CAR side Olympique Real de Bangui in the previous round where Mazembe had a bye.

Coach Roberto Oliviera is aware of the task at hand but is confident of upstaging the five-time Caf Champions League winners.

“Our objective is clear, we want to qualify to the next round even though we are playing a difficult team in TP Mazembe,” he spoke to Vipers Media.

“But, as Vipers we trust our capacity and we have one strong team. I respect TP Mazembe but they will need to respect Vipers too.”

“We want to win and we’re going to give it our life because the objective is to reach the Group stages.”

“We have built this team for the champions league. It’s my club, we’re all together, and it’s one big family.”

“My objective tomorrow is to play well, have good ball possession and win so that we qualify,” added the Brazilian.

The Venoms drew their league opener goalless against Soltilo Bright Stars and will need to produce a better show on Sunday.

The aggregate winner over two legs will play in the group stages of this year’s competition.
