Two StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) matches are lined up on Good Friday but it’s Vipers against URA at St Mary’s, Kitende that will grab most attention.

Bright Stars and Police will also be looking to push further upward the table when the two face off at Champions Stadium in Mwererwe.

Table leaders KCCA do not play until Saturday, when they welcome Express at Lugogo.

This provides an opportunity to second-placed Vipers to pounce and reduce the points deficit to three points.

KCCA lead standings on 56 points, six ahead of Vipers and 13 adrift on third-placed URA.

Vipers are not giving up. Not yet, at least. “The fight is still on,” insisted Michael Ouma, the Vipers coach.

“We want to ensure that we manage our remaining games on a positive note, and we have not lost hope because with four games to go, that is 12 points.

“And the guys ahead, KCCA; they are six points ahead, so anything can happen in the four games. So the battle is still on.”

URA lost 1-0 to Bright Stars in their last game, and the tax collectors will be looking to bounce back.

URA influencial midfielder Shafic Kagimu says they want to finish on a high.

“We can’t afford to lose any of these (remaining games),” he said, “We are going to reduce on the mistakes and finish as high as possible.”
